Weekend box office Prediction

So as the weekend gets closer I & Hollywood put out our box office predictions for the upcoming weekend. The one big movie coming up is Dawn of the Planet of the apes one of the most anticipated movies of the year and the sequel to one of the best movies of 2011. Boyhood is also coming out but not getting released in the same vain as Dawn so I am not predicting the box office for that. Critical reception for Dawn has been insane with many people calling it the best film of the year so far even though the year is barely half-way over. I am super excited in all honesty and can't wait for Friday to get her sooner. I hope to review it but due to how I've been doing in the term of actual reviews we'll see.

Dawn (I am not typing out the full name) is expected to open to a $68 million opening weekend which is an upgrade  from the $54.5 million opening weekend rise had. Now that we got what Hollywood thinks out of the way here is my prediction.

Dawn of the planet of the apes
Opening weekend: $68-$80 million
Domestic total: $ 180- $ 210 million
International total: $ 320- $ 490 million
Worldwide total: $ 500 million- $700 million

Box office list
1.) Dawn of the planets of the apes
2.) Transformers: Age of extinction
3.)Tammy
4.) 22 jump street
5.) How to train your dragon 2
6.) Maleficent
7.) Jersey boys
8.)Think like a man too
10.) Earth to Echo

While Transformers age of extinction dropped badly in it's second weekend I don't think it will drop bad enough to be dethroned by Tammy although this along with the Amazing Spider-man 2 are pretty much modern examples of franchise fatigue. Earth to Echo with the fact that it came in 6th place this weekend and the fact that a big summer blockbuster is opening this weekend is going to become like the fault in our stars where it just completely drops in it's second weekend. Not from franchise fatigue (Earth to Echo is a stand alone film) but from the fact the target audience is not going to show up for a second weekend.

So that's my prediction, next week we'll get to see whether or not I am wrong. See you Tomorrow!
