Frozen Fever review

I have to be honest when Frozen first came out I thought it was only really ok a fun movie with a good message and songs if pretty flawed. Some of the problems that kept me from really liking it or loving it some being the character of Elsa not having THAT much of a personality compared to some other Princesses, the animation was only OK to me, not really buying the relationship between Anna and Elsa that much, the 'twist' being kind of lame and not done very well, and I thought the ending was both a cop-out in a few different ways.

I could not anticipate it becoming that BIG of phenomenon although I could understand why even if I wasn't that big of the movie. Frozen Fever is a short film about Elsa throwing Anna a birthday party on the same day she has caught a cold. It's very short only about five minutes long at most and yet I really liked it, in some cases more than the movie. A lot more actually.

That's mainly because it fixes a lot (although not all of course) of problems I had with the movie. For one thing Elsa actually has a character in the short, in the movie she didn't really have a character in the movie due to so much of the focus being taken away from her and put on Anna as well as the fact it focused so much on Elsa's problems with her powers it didn't give her any room to show us who she really is.

In the short we see her character a lot more: she's stubborn, a perfectionist and very creative and clever person. I also very much bought Elsa and Anna's relationship and I felt for her trying to make sure everything goes perfectly even when she's basically getting completely delusional from her fever. You also buy the fact that Anna just wants to see her sister OK and just wants to be with her on her birthday even if it's not perfect.

Kristoff and Olaf are in this, I really like the slow yet natural pace they're taking with Kristoff and Anna's relationship and they are very cute together. Olaf was the one thing I really loved from the movie and I love him even more here.

If I did have to state any problems is that the one song in this that's sung throughout the entire short is very weak compared to 'Let It Go' or 'The First Time in Forever' and is not even that much of a song and more of words being said in a sing song voice from Elsa and Anna. Also the fact it is so short does constrain a lot of things.  Still I  really enjoyed it and it did fix a lot of my problems from the movie

Overall I give this short an 8.5/10~ Very enjoyable and although the song was weak and it was short it fixed a lot of my problems from the first movie and made me actually give a damn about the Frozen world. I am glad a sequel is getting made now because I really do want to love this franchise and while I am not there yet I hope the sequel is good so I can get there.
