Editorial- Fantastic Four Doomed?

Recently the long publishing (75 years) comic book The Fantastic Four was announced to be getting either cancelled or discontinued soon. Either way no more Marvel's first family. Now this "coincidentally" will happen right around when the new Fantastic four reboot movie is coming out. Which thanks to bad publicity or no publicity and the stars of said movie either not knowing when to keep quiet or at the very least word their statements carefully seems to be written off as a "don't watch" movie before the first trailer hits (and I won't lie when I say I'm kind of in the "Hell No" movie camp.)

I came here to talk about this whole Fantastic Four in general. It seems that despite being the first Stan Lee Marvel creation and the start to Marvel comics Fantastic Four tends to come with a stench of no good from it. What do I mean by that?

Well they've never had a legitimately good movie ever come out (Richard Coreman's Fantastic Four, the 2004 Fantastic Four and the Fantastic four rise of the silver surfer), the comics have not been selling well nor have they've been well-received (try reading one of the comics nowadays and not feel like you took some bad acid.) The only real luck Marvel's first family had was in animation but their has been no new cartoon and the last one got cancelled before it's time was up.

So yeah Fantastic Four as of late is having a really bad track record... but does that mean it's doomed? Doomed to one day fade into obscurity... to be a thing of the past... a thing to be replaced.

In my opinion Yes and No.

What I mean is that yeah with the comics being taken away and the less likely chance for the movies to improve when it comes to today it will fade... for a while. Their is a reason that Fantastic Four has been around for nearly seventy-five years because the first family has managed to captivate the imaginations of children from around the world. With Mr. Fantastic's mind, the Thing's weirdness, Invisible Women's heart and Human Torch's charm they will never really die and be forgotten. A lot of the writers in the comic book industry grew up reading comics and who knows maybe a previous fan of the Fantastic four will return the team to it's once great form and restore the legacy.

That's the big thing with the Fantastic Four legacy, yes the legacy is pretty tainted but with memorable heroes and villains (Dr. Doom, Galactus, Annilus etc.) and an ever changing stories the Fantastic Four may wane they will never be doomed!
