Now taking a break from packing boxes I look at the weekend box office to see what everyone made. And the overarching result is:
Weekend box office
1.) Guardians of the galaxy- $94 million
2.) Lucy- $18 million
3.) Get on up-$ 14 million
4.) Hercules- $10 million
5.) Dawn of the planet of the apes- $8.7 million
6.) Planes fire & rescue- $ 6.4 million
7.) The purge: anarchy- $5 million
8.) Sex tape- $ 3.5 million
9.) And so it goes- $3.3 million
10.) A man most wanted- $3.3 million
Wow! I did not expect Guardians to make $94 million opening weekend. Don't get me wrong I love the movie but I only expected it to make $80 million tops and this just demolished that and everyone's expectations. In other words awesome! Guardians 2, Star-Lord meets his dad and it's Kevin Bacon (come one that would be hilarious.) Also love that Dawn is still going strong so I'm happy that two of my favorite movies of the year so far are doing really well. Lucy is doing particularly well too and I hope to get a black widow movie soon (come one Marvel you've proven your basically invincible just bite the bullet with her or Ms Marvel.) I am surprised Get on Up is doing as bad as it is, guess Marvel tends to eat up a weekend.
No movie review this week but box office predictions and editorial to go as planned. See you next time!
