Hey guys I'm not doing so well so this will be a short little piece and sorry it's coming a day late, the editorial will be moved to tomorrow as well. This weekend I am seeing and reviewing St. Vincent because I really wanted to see that film and it's finally coming to a theater close by to me. A new movie coming out tomorrow is Nightcrawler which I don't know much about other than Jake Gyllenhal is in it and he kind of has a funny voice.

Weekend box office~ Keanu Reeves plays with a Ouji boards
The weekend has come and gone and now it is time for the weekend box office, I didn't go to the movies this week (but expect a movie review this week.) Ouji and John Wick (which I had no idea existed) and guess who came out on top (clue: Halloween is five days away.)

Editorial- Avengers age of ultron trailer breakdown
Yesterday thanks to Hydra (this is why we love you Marvel!) leaked the Avengers age of ultron trailer, so Marvel released it officially. And it was awesome, now I am here to do a (written) trailer breakdown for the movie since it's so big.
Avengers age of ultron trailer breakdown
0:01-0:10~ Opening of a city where a riot seems to be taking place, at first I thought it was south Africa because of all the filming that has been taking place there until it shows some rioters with a French flag so this either takes place in Paris or some sort of French colony. Also if you look closely two of the rioters are Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch (A.K.A Wanda and Pietro Maximoff.) Also we get opening narration from James Spader Ultron who after hearing his voice is freaking perfect for the role.
0:14~ A robotic hand covered in lava most likely Ultron either being created or upgraded.
0:17~ Our first glance of Captain America in his new suit which I have to say looks very cool, he seems to be walking through a field of destruction in either the place where the trailer opened or south Africa and he looks tired.
0:19~ Our first glance of Hawkeye who is standing in the middle of a panic and seems to have had something catch his attention during all of this.
0:20~ Our first glance of Thor from the back.
0:22-0:24~ A full shot of the team minus Tony Stark and from the looks of it their coming back from a mission gone wrong. All of them look either upset or tired and none of them are facing each other. The most damaged out of all of them looks to be Bruce Banner who is wrapped in a blanket looking as though he is really scared.
0:26-0:30- Our first glance a Ultron, who looks beat to hell. We got some news earlier this year that Ultron throughout the film will be changing forms and from the looks of it the report was correct as we see here he looks more in line from a iron man legion drone where as at the end he looks more like he does from the comics. My theory is that the Avengers build him to cover jobs they can't do and where at the beginning he starts out as a mindless drone but over time gains a sense of emotions and something happens where he snaps and decides enough is enough.
0:32- Notice in the group shot from the party scene their are two other women in the shot besides black widow, my guess is that it's agent Maria Hill and the asian scientist that was cast six months ago in the film.
0:41-0:45~ My guess this is the rumored beginning part with them breaking into a Hydra base due to the European-transylvanian style of the castle in front of the mountain range the same one Iron man seems to be standing in front of (most likely the swiss alps.) You can also tell it's the same facility Cap kicks the door down in due to how the windows look.
0:46-0:47~ The military either fighting Ultron drones or like we are going to see later because of how the city looks them shooting the Hulk.
0:49~ From the looks of the hut and clothing style of the black woman this seems to be taking place in South Africa where they have been filming (Wakanda?)
0:50-0:53~ Bruce Banner running through the snowy forest looking scared and confused. This most likely takes place in the beginning of film along with the Hydra break in.
0:54~ Quick shot of Black Widow, they say Black widow will be having a larger part in this than before and will be exploring her backstory more and from the looks of it she seems to be questioning her place as she joined still to stop guys like Hydra only to find out she's been working for them this whole time.
0:55~ A surgery seems to be taking place and my best guess is Iron man.
0:56-0:59~ Ultron in a seemingly different form with the twins (Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch), I have the feeling in the beginning they will be evil but join the Avengers at the end.
1:00-1:02- These shots seem to be taking place in the same scene with the Ultron drones coming out of the water and the Avengers looking really surprised and overwhelmed as we see Thor drop his hammer.
1:06-1:10~ Our only lines of dialogue in this film are pretty grim with Tony saying this is his fault and Black Widow stating nothing last forever. We also see Nick Fury and it will be interesting to see what role he plays in this film.
1:11-1:14~ Scarlet Witch screaming up into the high heavens, in the comics one of Scarlett Witch's abilities is to control reality, it probably won't be like House of M type of stuff where she creates an alternate timeline but still she's probably going to be pretty powerful. I bring this up because it seems like from how the scene is shot almost dream like and it doesn't seem real like she is trapped into a hallucination.
1:16~ First real shot of Hulk and I have to say the CGI in this trailer alone looks way better than Hulk in the first Avengers, in fact the entire film looks visually stunning from this trailer.
1:18~ The Hulkbuster armor looks awesome! Not going to say too much except already has talked about it.
1:22~ Black Widow on her new electric motorcycle which also looks cool
1:23-1:24~ A very small but very impressive look at Quicksilver's and Scarlett Witch's powers set, they look really cool and really colorful.
1:25~ This is interesting my train of thought is this is Cap under a hallucination by the Scarlett Witch in which Steve got his dance with Peggy because you can tell by the glimpse it is a dance hall of sorts but he is wearing his costume. Most likely to distract Cap to take him out of the fight while someone else (either Quicksilver or Vision, who we don't see) tries to kill him.
1:27~ Quick shot of Andy Serkis (favorite actor and cool to see him in live action) as most likely from the way his hair is style and overall look he is probably Uylsses Klaw a Black Panther villain: that is awesome if in the Black Panther movie Andy Serkis ends up being the villain that will be awesome for him. Uylsses Klaw is a physicist who specializes in sound, and since Black Panther is from Wakanda Klaw deals in vibranium the metal cap's shield is made out of and near the end it looks like they might need some soon.
1:30~ Rumors are circulating of Black Widow and Hulk romance in the film which I so hope happens. Mainly because when you think about it they would have a lot in common with both viewing themselves as monsters, both running from their past constantly and if you watch the first Avengers you kind of get a small vibe from them in certain scenes.
1:31~ A shot of a bunch of Ballerina's may not look like an important shot but if you know anything about Black Widow's origin and the fact this scene looks very dream/flashback like this will be very important.
1:32-1:33~ A bunch of what looks like Hydra agents shooting at Hawkeye (in a very nice looking new suit.) This is most likely in the beginning as well.
1:34-1:35~ Thor picks up Tony Stark looking ready to beat him up, something must have happened to make Thor this angry and from the looks of this movie their will be a lot of rifts between a lot of Avengers.
1:36-1:44~ Pre-order you Avengers fighting game now!
1:48-1:49~ That is already an iconic shot of Cap's shield broken symbolizing that the Avengers are freaking screwed.
1:50-1:53~ God what a way to end a trailer on (most likely) the final form of Ultron with James Spader menacingly saying "No strings on me" (awesome music choice by the way.)

Weekend box office prediction~ Netflix and Avengers
The Avengers age of ultron trailer leaked so looks like I know what I'm doing for my editorial tomorrow (no it will not be in video format, my computer is too broken for that. This weekend I'm going to be doing a NETFLIX movie review of something I haven't seen yet because I can't go to the movies this weekend for personal reasons, money reasons and the fact only Ouija is coming out.

Book of life review
Spoilers!I can't properly review this movie without spoiling pretty much all of it.
The book of life is an animated movie about a wager between La Muerte the ruler of the remembered and Xibalba ruler of the forgotten (basically rulers of heaven and hell if you want to get down to it), on one day of the dead celebration they make a wager of who a young girl named Maria will chose to fall in love with and marry the insecure musical Manolo or the good intention if a little arrogant war hero Joaquin. La Muerte watches over Manolo where as Xibalba watches over Joaquin (including giving him a medallion that lets him never die or get hurt.) However Maria seems to be leaning more towards Manolo then Joaquin so Xibalba cheats and kills Manolo who know with the help of his dead relatives must reclaim his life in order to get back to the love of his life.
I was really looking forward to this movie when it was coming out.
First off let me get to the good. This is a really funny movie but what I love about it as opposed to a lot of other animated movies or live-action movies is that the comedy does not get into the way of or interrupt the emotional serious moments of the film and they don't feel jarring, they feel very genuine and it's never too much. My favorite character in this movie also has to be Joaquin while he is an ass unlike others movie where they make that the only character trait the rival has Joaquin is very three-dimensional as while he truly loves Maria he doesn't want to marry her if she doesn't love him back, he just wants her to be happy and the relationship with Manalo is very genuine and heartfelt and he doesn't hate Manalo and is there for him always as a friend should.
This is easily one of the most visually beautiful and unique movies I've ever seen. The vibrant color choice really pops and the puppet like design for the characters are really interesting. It's very fluid and smooth and is just so pretty to look at. In fact a lot of the face designs reminded me of one of my favorite shows as a kid El Tigre (look it up it's really good) and when I looked it up the man who directed this movie, Jorge Guetierrez, created the show El Tigre. You can also see that the same people who made El Tigre made this film because like this film El Tigre was about choosing your own destiny and the power of free choice. Sadly though while the film is fun and pretty I would rather watch El Tigre than watch this film anytime soon.
It seems that most of the bad films I watch nowadays seem to have really bad script problems. First off let me get to the other characters, where as Joaquin is a nice change of pace for rivals in other movies the other characters are very one-dimensional. Manalo are main character is very much like his puppet design, very wooden, there's not much their really except for a really good singing voice and I couldn't really root for him because he wasn't that interesting. Maria the love interest while a lot of fun doesn't really have a lot to her either as a character and is really just the feminist girl archetype. Manalo and Maria also don't have that much chemistry either, they do end up together in the film but you don't buy until the credits start rolling and the film is over. They don't even talk in the film to each other when they are adults, they sing with each other about how much they love each other but they don't have a real conversation to make you buy that they are in love with each other, rather just the concept of being in love.
In fact I thought she had more chemistry with Joaquin because at least they have a conversation with each other and he seems to love her for who she is as a person. Wouldn't have it been more interesting if while all that stuff about in the land of the dead with Manolo was happening Maria and Joaquin got to know each other better and eventually fell genuinely in love with each other. With the whole film about letting go of someone dead or alive and that you move on no matter what. That's kind of dark I know but it would have been interesting to see an animated movie tackle that.
Most of the other characters are one-dimensional, La Muerte and Xibalba are a lot of fun but we don't really know them and I wish we did because they seem really interesting with cool designs but they are kind of just there. Most of the voice acting is pretty good except for Ice Cube as the candle maker (basically god), he is so jarring in this film whenever he opened his mouth I wanted to groan and slit my throat. This film is very racially sensitive which is awesome and I like the mostly Hispanic cast which is even better but Ice Cube voicing a character with the candle makers design felt kind of uncomfortable. If you see the movie you'll know what I mean when he shows up.
Another problem with the movie it follows a pretty predictable story path when it has an interesting concept. Which is sad because you can pretty much guess the ending of this movie without even blinking. Nothing new happens, nothing interesting happens when you have a film about deities messing with human lives, that should be interesting.That's probably the worst part of the movie is a lot of potential is wasted, if they had hired different screenwriters this would probably have been good.
This film coming off of that point is very bloated, by that I mean this movie has four different GOOD movies in it that are all basically bull-fighting for attention creating this bloody mess that could have been avoided. I have a feeling the script for this movie was rewritten a lot because it feels like five different movies are happening at once. Their's of course the love triangle part of the movie but also a story about how Manolo wants to be a guitar player rather than a bull fighter (I can't spell the politically correct term for bull fighter), Manolo being afraid to be himself and a plot about Joaquin and an infamous bandit. All these plots could stand as a movie on it's own but put together they don't mesh that well because with how this movie is structure it's very jarring and unlike the animation doesn't flow well together.
The main theme these all share however is the idea of free choice as opposed to destiny. Yet I think it doesn't really work that well. What made the freedom versus destiny story work in El Tigre is the main character Manny Rivera (who is way more interesting that Manolo) always had free choice as an option, while he did have his dad and grandpa forcing him to choose it was always up to Manny to decide what to do, in this movie because you bring in gods into the movie one of whom has been manipulating one of the main characters free choice is kind of void. Not many of the characters have free choice really in this film either. Sure in the third act they say Manolo can make up his own destiny but it's so rushed through and never discussed. The pace in this movie is also a big problem which factors into the rushing of Manolo being able to make his own choice.
I give this film a 5/10- I can watch this film for entertainment and visual value but it's just so bad and so disappointing considering how hyped I was from this film.

I was really looking forward to this movie when it was coming out.
First off let me get to the good. This is a really funny movie but what I love about it as opposed to a lot of other animated movies or live-action movies is that the comedy does not get into the way of or interrupt the emotional serious moments of the film and they don't feel jarring, they feel very genuine and it's never too much. My favorite character in this movie also has to be Joaquin while he is an ass unlike others movie where they make that the only character trait the rival has Joaquin is very three-dimensional as while he truly loves Maria he doesn't want to marry her if she doesn't love him back, he just wants her to be happy and the relationship with Manalo is very genuine and heartfelt and he doesn't hate Manalo and is there for him always as a friend should.
This is easily one of the most visually beautiful and unique movies I've ever seen. The vibrant color choice really pops and the puppet like design for the characters are really interesting. It's very fluid and smooth and is just so pretty to look at. In fact a lot of the face designs reminded me of one of my favorite shows as a kid El Tigre (look it up it's really good) and when I looked it up the man who directed this movie, Jorge Guetierrez, created the show El Tigre. You can also see that the same people who made El Tigre made this film because like this film El Tigre was about choosing your own destiny and the power of free choice. Sadly though while the film is fun and pretty I would rather watch El Tigre than watch this film anytime soon.
It seems that most of the bad films I watch nowadays seem to have really bad script problems. First off let me get to the other characters, where as Joaquin is a nice change of pace for rivals in other movies the other characters are very one-dimensional. Manalo are main character is very much like his puppet design, very wooden, there's not much their really except for a really good singing voice and I couldn't really root for him because he wasn't that interesting. Maria the love interest while a lot of fun doesn't really have a lot to her either as a character and is really just the feminist girl archetype. Manalo and Maria also don't have that much chemistry either, they do end up together in the film but you don't buy until the credits start rolling and the film is over. They don't even talk in the film to each other when they are adults, they sing with each other about how much they love each other but they don't have a real conversation to make you buy that they are in love with each other, rather just the concept of being in love.
In fact I thought she had more chemistry with Joaquin because at least they have a conversation with each other and he seems to love her for who she is as a person. Wouldn't have it been more interesting if while all that stuff about in the land of the dead with Manolo was happening Maria and Joaquin got to know each other better and eventually fell genuinely in love with each other. With the whole film about letting go of someone dead or alive and that you move on no matter what. That's kind of dark I know but it would have been interesting to see an animated movie tackle that.
Most of the other characters are one-dimensional, La Muerte and Xibalba are a lot of fun but we don't really know them and I wish we did because they seem really interesting with cool designs but they are kind of just there. Most of the voice acting is pretty good except for Ice Cube as the candle maker (basically god), he is so jarring in this film whenever he opened his mouth I wanted to groan and slit my throat. This film is very racially sensitive which is awesome and I like the mostly Hispanic cast which is even better but Ice Cube voicing a character with the candle makers design felt kind of uncomfortable. If you see the movie you'll know what I mean when he shows up.
Another problem with the movie it follows a pretty predictable story path when it has an interesting concept. Which is sad because you can pretty much guess the ending of this movie without even blinking. Nothing new happens, nothing interesting happens when you have a film about deities messing with human lives, that should be interesting.That's probably the worst part of the movie is a lot of potential is wasted, if they had hired different screenwriters this would probably have been good.
This film coming off of that point is very bloated, by that I mean this movie has four different GOOD movies in it that are all basically bull-fighting for attention creating this bloody mess that could have been avoided. I have a feeling the script for this movie was rewritten a lot because it feels like five different movies are happening at once. Their's of course the love triangle part of the movie but also a story about how Manolo wants to be a guitar player rather than a bull fighter (I can't spell the politically correct term for bull fighter), Manolo being afraid to be himself and a plot about Joaquin and an infamous bandit. All these plots could stand as a movie on it's own but put together they don't mesh that well because with how this movie is structure it's very jarring and unlike the animation doesn't flow well together.
The main theme these all share however is the idea of free choice as opposed to destiny. Yet I think it doesn't really work that well. What made the freedom versus destiny story work in El Tigre is the main character Manny Rivera (who is way more interesting that Manolo) always had free choice as an option, while he did have his dad and grandpa forcing him to choose it was always up to Manny to decide what to do, in this movie because you bring in gods into the movie one of whom has been manipulating one of the main characters free choice is kind of void. Not many of the characters have free choice really in this film either. Sure in the third act they say Manolo can make up his own destiny but it's so rushed through and never discussed. The pace in this movie is also a big problem which factors into the rushing of Manolo being able to make his own choice.
I give this film a 5/10- I can watch this film for entertainment and visual value but it's just so bad and so disappointing considering how hyped I was from this film.

Weekend box office prediction- Best fury of life
Another day, another week and another weekend box office. I am doing this a day early because of some extracurricular things for school which will take up a lot of tomorrow night. Anyway this week three big movies are coming out Fury (Brad pit Oscar baiting to the max), Book of life (It looks really cool and really pretty), and the Best of me (I hate you Nicholas Sparks.)
So heres my prediction:
Fury
Weekend box office: $ 38-$45 million
Domestic box office: $ 85-$91 million
International box office: $110-$120 million
World wide box office: $195-$211 million
Oscar Awards season is finally here with Fury to kick it off, If I'm right they might have just given away their ending in the trailers (go watch or wait- don't go watch the trailers if you want to be surprised.) It looks ok, it seems really Oscar baiting though with the WWII setting, the seemingly dramatic turn from Pitt, the speech he gives in the trailer and everything. On the bright side the fight scenes with the Tanks seems like it will be at least entertaining to watch.

Weekend box office: $ 35-$50 million
Domestic box office: $ 76-$90 million
International box office: $ 90-$140 million
Worldwide box office: $166-$230 million
With the pretty interesting (and pretty dark one at that) premise and interesting visual style I am really looking forward to seeing this animated movie, I love animation be it 2-D, 3-D,claymation, anything as long as it looks good and doesn't pander to its' audience.
The Best of Me
Weekend box office: $ 14-$25 million
Domestic box office: $ 30-$70 million
International box office: $ 30-$50 million
World wide box office: $ 60-$110 million
I would rather watch Garbage pail kids hung upside down over a bed of sharks than watch a Nicholas Sparks movie. I have the feeling that the romantic genre is in one of its lags so this movie does have a chance of bombing which despite that fact I hate Nicholas Sparks movies and books I do like James Marsden as an actor and at the very least Nicholas Sparks movies have pretty visuals and interesting (if convoluted) subplots.
